Most vets do it now before the 1st heat, however it is best to let her have one season first - however this is not for any reason other than the hormones involved will allow her to mature mentally and physically.

∙ 12y agoYou should neuter a chiweenie at the same time you would neuter any other breed of dog: at 4-6 months of age. Your veterinarian should reccomend this to you when your puppy is ready for his first rabies vaccine.

Dogs neutered before six months may not develop as fully as those neutered after six months. With female dogs, there is a risk of incontinence if she is spayed before six months. Consult your veterinarian for what is best for your pet in your situation.
I believe a dog shouldn't be neutered unless it really has to be. You can neuter your dog any time, but if you want to wait to see if the dog is having territorial problems or keeps 'jumping' on female dogs, you should get your dog neutered
