What kind of car/truck? I am changing the motor in a 99 cavalier. I have the door panel off and now I am trying to remove the motor.
Take the door panel off. The old switch or switch cluster should pop out of the panel when you release it from the tabs. The new switch which you ordered will plug into the window switch wiring harness. This will only plug one way; therefore, you can't go wrong. Pop the switch or switch cluster back… into the door panel; attach the door panel back to the door frame. ( Full Answer )
remove the handle usually in one of three ways...either (1)a small screw in the handle usually pretty obvious and in older cars. (2)a set screw in the side of the handle that mainly wedges the handle on the shaft of the window crank assembly. or (3) the most confusing style, a small 'c' clip on the …shaft just under handle. it's a pain to get to on some cars, but with a good set of pick tools, screw drivers, or whatever else you can find, you can pop the clip off, just be sure not to lose it because there is a good chance it'll shoot off pretty far. to reinstall the last style of window handle, place the clip on the HANDLE in the grooves cut into it. then simply push the handle onto the shaft until you feel/hear a click and the clip has caught on the shaft's groove. You can save a lot of money by doing the replacement yourself.Windows can be purchased at your local home improvement storereasonably cheap from 49.00- and up. It depends on the size and quality of the window you're looking toreplace. More information provided will help you on this question.Give us …the size and type of window you're looking to replace. Asfor labor it's cheaper if you're having multiple windows donerather than just one. Places like Home Depot and Lowe's do installsbut you might find it easier and cheaper to buy the window on yourown and look up a local handyman that knows how to install it. I would say an average is $200-$400 in most areas for a singlewindow - though this can vary widely. If you don't have any trickytrim, shapes, access, obstructions,... you should have the windowcost plus $200 labor - this includes re-installing existing trim, and some insulation and caulk. Again - this is a rule-of-thumb -there are MANY variables that can affect this - INCLUDING the timeof year that you have it done. The dead of winter (with cooperativeweather) is always good as business is slow. ( Full Answer )

Depending on where the house is located and the sizes and types of windows you want... it can run you from $200.00 to over $800.00 per window... You should go with a replacement window because of the difference in labor cost to install. A completely new window including the frame would be a tremen…dous difference. Make sure you get a insulated glass with a low 'E" rating and the glass should be filled with Argon Gas or Krypton Gas. They have a new composite made window that has an extremely high insulated rating. If you are handy at all you can replace the old windows with new ones while saving a lot of money doing it. Changing out windows is not really all that hard and can reduce the cost of the windows down to $50-$300. and up according to the size and type of window you want to replace. I would think the average would run about$79.00 per 4'x4' double payne vinyl window purchased from your local home improvement store. For more information visit the Related Link. ( Full Answer )

There are two rear facing tabs on either side of the rear cover housing. Using a thin blade type device, gently pry up while pulling slightly to the rear. Do this one side at a time, and the cover will slide off to the front of the car or toward you. Don't pry the tabs out very far maybe a 1\16 to 1…\8th of and inch, else you will brake them. Also don't pull the housing out very far until you get the second tab disengaged ( Full Answer )
Answer replacement windows There are two basic kinds of replacement windows. One you remove the sash and stops from the inside, the new window is inserted and screwed in place through the sides. Then you trim it on the inside a needed. The other kind has a nailing flange. You remove the entire wind…ow, outside trim, everything the window is set in the hole and nailed in place all the way around. With this type you will need to make sure there is a moisture barrier between the wall and the window. On older houses this is probably tar paper, on newer ones it may be a plastic sheet. If this is intact, caulk all the way around the window opening on the surface, set the window in the hole, making sure it is level and nail in place. Trim the window inside and out as needed. A: You can do it at home, but make sure you know what you're doing. A badly installed window will result in air leakages, condensation, etc. Your energy bills will go up and the life of the replacement windows will be compromised. ( Full Answer )
You call a professional if it is a windshield or glued perimeter part and if it is a door glass you can locate and remove the screws that hold the panel on and then pry the panel from the door frame and then clear the glass in the rubber tracks on the sides with a screwdriver or remove and clear and… re-install the side/top track rubbers then remove either the track at the bottom of the glass and clean it and use urethane glue to push the new glass into or (mattering upon the year and model) remove the tabs that attach the glass to the regulator/track that were from the old broken glass then install the new glass which should have the tabs on there. vacuum door inside's bottom and slam to loosen glass to fall and vacuum again and your done. -awautoglass.com ( Full Answer )
Caprice window motor removal . First off make sure you are correct on the motor not working. Most times if the window does not move the motor is the problem.Ocassionaly a window switch will wear out. Motor removal.Go to the parts store and ask for a door panel pry bar. Most panels are fastened to …the door with plastic inserts along the bottom, and a couple on each end going up the panel. (ask for some new door panel inserts at the parts store as some will need to be replaced). There should be 2 retaining screws in the inner most part of the door arm rest forward and back. Possibly one in between the door arm rest and panel. With the door panel free of any resistance (you will have the wires connected between the window motor and switch still) Graps the bottom of the door panel with one hand ,pull bottom of door panel away from door. You might feel resistance at this position. With the other hand bump bottom of door panel upward.May take a few bumps to free the clips at the top of door panel and you will probably need to wiggle the door panel somewhat to totally free it from the door. Now you should have access to the motor for the window. If the window is in the down position and you cannot access the motor, look for a metal "arm" that connects to the window from the motor area. Remove this clip, free the arm and move the window up to the closed postioin and secure it in place. By looking at the new motor you have, you will see what screws to remove to release the old motor and remove. Installing is in exact reverse order.Make sure you reatach the "arm" to the window.Take your time and if you run into a snag,Call the parts store and a person there should be able to walk you through the snag.Good luck!! Houses have windows so that the ventilation is good. Imagine living in a house with no windows; you wouldn't be able to breathe properly and would hardly have any fresh air. Another reason is that light can enter if you have windows. If you have no windows, your would live in total darkness. It also… gives you some light from the sun and some warmth. A further reason is that you are able to see outside the house/shelter and to see, for example a postman, police or maybe even Santa, basically anyone who is knocking on the door... -_-. Widows are sometimes used as decorations etc. -- Honestly, there isn't a real "need" for windows anymore. We keep them because we like them. I, personally, would love it if my bedroom had one whole wall being just windows. When I get a car, big windows will be a must. It's nice to be able to see outside. (: *_* . ==. In Japan they are increasingly designing homes with windows in the ceiling instead of facing outward. In many urban settings looking at the sky is the only pretty view. Although one might view such a home as a way to fight crime, there is no real crime in these neighborhoods..
