November 23rd, 1963 (the day after JFK was shot) - First episode was named "An Unearthly Child"...

More specifically on a Saturday at 5:12. The episode involves the First Doctor, (portrayed by William Hartnell) and his granddaughter Susan, an episode wherein Susan's schoolteachers are worried about Susan's suspicious lifestyle, and so end up encountering her grandfather and his wonderful blue time machine.
