Enoch was Methuselah's father and Noahâ??s great grandfather. There are three apocryphal works attributed to Enoch. These detail how Enoch is ascended into heaven, put in charge of all the heavenly treasures and the archangels and was allowed to serve as a chief attendant to Godâ??s throne.

Enoch exists as the name of four different individuals in the Old Testament as follows:

1. The son of Cain (Gen. 4:17, 18) for whom the first city which Cain built was named.

2. The son of Jared of the godly line of Seth, who walked with God and was taken away so that he did not see death, "and was not found, because God had taken him transferred without dying (Gen 5:18-24; 1 Chron. 1:3). As a hero of faith (Heb. 11:5) he is known as a man who pleased God, while Jude 14 and 15 refer to the tradition that Enoch prophesied against ungodly men (cf. The Book of Enoch). There can be no question that the clause "and he was not, for God took him" (Gen 5:24) refers to translation; the same expression is used of Elijah's translation (2 Kings 2:11).

3. A son of Median, the son of Abraham by Keturah; this Enoch was father of one of the tribes of Medianites (Gen. 25:4; 1 Chron. 1:3).

4. The first son of Reuben, the son of Jacob (Gen. 46:8, 9; Exod. 6:14; Num. 26:5; 1 Chron. 5:3).

The "Enoch" of Genesis 4:17 was the eldest son of Cain and was Adam's Grandson. According to Smiths Bible Dictionary he was born in 3870BC

The other "Enoch" of Genesis 5:21 was the son of Jared and father of Methuselah.. He was Adam's Great Great Great Great Grandson . According to 'Smiths Bible Dictionary' he was born in 3378 BC ,but according to Ussher he was born in 3382BC, so averaging out at 3380BC.

Genesis 5:18-20 GNB When Jared was 162, he had a son, Enoch, (v.19) and then lived another 800 years. He had other children (v.20) and died at the age of 962.
