I am the daughter of Marie Brown; and my mother died tragically from both a broken heart, and poor medical care. My mother made the mistake of taking the original patent, given to her by the Patent and Trademark Office, to a security or alarm company; and the company refused to return it to her. My father Albert Brown tragically died from a fire; and I believe these tragic events sent her into a nervous breakdown; and I had to have her committed for her own safety. She was able to partially recover; but not entirely. She suffered a heart attack; entered the ambulance conscious and talking; but was comatose, suffering from brain anoxia, when she entered the emergency room. Later she was in a vegetative state on a respirator. I believe her disheveled appearance led the ambulance team to believe she was of no value; and the lawyer that I asked to initiate a malpractice suit stated, he wouldn't take the case, because "She's not worth anything". She died in the hospital. She never received any monetary rewards whatsoever, from her invention, and was generally perceived as worthless, by society, after her nervous breakdown.
