That Kodak guy (Henry Kodak?) invented emulsifiers that mixed with some kinda special paper (in a dark room) on which your 35 MM film is imaged and processed. His first Manufacturing plant was in Rochester, New York.

Cameras have always been colored. However, the earliest hand tinted color film was distributed in 1895 to the movie industry. Color still Photography became available to the general public around 1935 although experementation had started some 70 years earlier.
