The event that Americans commonly call the "First Thanksgiving" was celebrated by the Pilgrims after their first harvest in the New World in October 1621. This feast lasted three days, and—as recounted by attendee Edward Winslow— was attended by 90 Wampanoag and 53 Pilgrims.
The first recognized three day long thanksgiving was in 1821. The one not talked about though is the one in 1819 which didn't go so well in Jamestown. It WA only one day and wasnt as happy, merry, or carried as much food and isn't as well known. So school talks about the one in 1821 but the first one was in 1819. (:
