There are several people in space right now (November 2012), aboard the International Space Station.
However, humans haven't gone beyond low Earth orbit since 1973, and there really isn't any prospect of going any farther any time in the foreseeable future.
Well, if you mean just humans .. then we have only travelled to the moon. But with our machines we have gone beyond our solar system, and the scientists at N.A.S.A. are astonished that some of the cameras sent out into space are still working and sending pictures back to Earth.
