∙ 14y agoSt.Mary was born in 20 BC in Gaille . No one really knows. The above answer is based on tradition and unsubstantiated sources used by the Roman Catholic Church. Historically there is no evidence to suggest that she was born in any particular year. However, we can work out a likely time of her birth knowing the time of Christ's birth and Jewish culture and custom. Mary was likely to have been pregnant with Jesus at a very early age as was the custom in those days. In Jewish law once a girl started to menstruate she was declared a woman and was able to be married. We also know that Mary had no children before Jesus and that she was a virgin, placing her at an age just after menstruation started. Menstruation began later in life in those days on average than today (as we have better nutrition and health care), but usually was no later than around 13-14 years of age. Therefore Mary was around 14 or 15 when she gave birth to Jesus. Most scholars agree that Jesus was born between 7BC and 4BC. If Mary was 14 or 15 Years old at the time, this places her birth at anywhere from 22BC to 18BC.

The Blessed Virgin Mary is assumed to have been about 14 years old when she married. That was the custom at the time in the area. She was probably born about the year 15 B.C.
