The first boardwalk was built in 1870 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. In the mid-1800s, oceanside resorts and the railroads that provided transportation to them were enjoying a booming success, but they were also gritting their teeth against the problem of sand — it was everywhere! Finally, a solution was found to keep the sand at bay: a walkway made of boards that would lead from town to the beach, helping keep sand out of the tourists' shoes. The Atlantic City boardwalk opened on June 26, 1870, and was a mile long; an amusement pier was added a decade later.

Which Atlantic City hotels are right for you?

Atlantic City can be an incredibly fun place, but there are some things you need to know. Though many people compare it to Las Vegas, there is one key difference. It matters much more where you stay in Atlantic City. Unlike Las Vegas, AC can be quite dangerous if you are in the wrong area. If you stay on the main drag, things are fun. As soon as you step away from these prime properties, you could find yourself in a world of trouble. So which of the Atlantic City hotels is the right choice? The pros and cons of the Borgata There are many reasons why the Borgata ranks among the best Atlantic City hotels. Experienced AC goers will tell you that the Borgata has the best poker room in the city and it has the nicest casino. As the newest luxury property, there is a great deal of attraction. If you choose this property, you will be staying in the finest of Atlantic City hotels. The downside is that you will be away from other Atlantic City hotels. The Borgata is not close to the primary casino areas, as it stands a short cab ride away. Don’t expect to walk among the different casinos if you stay at the B. Some would argue, however, that the Borgata is all you need when you stay in the city. Given its fun, young vibe, this might be the truth. On the boardwalk When choosing among the Atlantic City hotels, the boardwalk is a good place to start. Many people like Caesar’s Palace, as it has a lot of name value. Given its place in Las Vegas and in AC, Caesar’s stands as a center of the gambling world. Know that this is one property that can be seriously overpriced at certain parts of the year. What are some of the values among the Atlantic City hotels? The Tropicana has been recently renovated and it is relatively cheap given the quality of the casino. Its location right on the boardwalk will put you close to the best shopping and the majority of AC’s best casinos. Don’t overlook this when you need a value hotel.

What is Atlantic City NJ like in the month of March?

I was born in Atlantic City, NJ, on Feb. 19, 1934. We moved to Pennsylvania when I was six, so I don't have personal recollections of the weather (if. indeed, that is what you're asking for. But I do have a photo of my mom and dad holding me when I was only a month old and they're not wearing winter clothes (not even a jacket). We visited Atlantic City often and lived only 90 miles away, so I would think the weather in March would be about the same, except perhaps for sea breezes. Our March weather in Philadelphia and later in Gloucester City, NJ, was usually mild, heralding the spring flowers that would burst into bloom in late March and April If you're talking about the social life in March, Atlantic City is still winter-quiet on the boardwalk if it's still like I remember it. . It's still before the swimming season But today the beach and ocean aren't the only attractions. The casinos are going full blast all year round and may add to strollers on the boardwalk.
