There are Russian patent going back as far as the late 1800's, but who really knows if any of these would have worked. The first color transmission was done in 1928 with a very complicated mechnical system. There were many demonstrations in the 30's, 40's and early 1950's, but the first regular broadcast was on June 25, 1951 on the CBS network. On your remote there should be an input key click that until your tv picture come up. Or you could be on the wrong channel. Hope this helps
