∙ 10y agoAmon-Re is not the Christian God; he is a combination of the ancient Egyptian gods Amon/Amun (a snake headed god and one of the ancient Ogdoad, paired with Amaunet and holding the secret powers of creation) and Re/Ra, the ruling sun god. Paired together he became the dominate cult god of Thebes; a King of Gods in the 11th Dynasty, Amun-Re combined within himself the two opposites of divinity, the hidden and the revealed.
As Amun, he was secret, hidden and mysterious, but as Re, he was visible and revealed.
Amon-Re was a part of a tirade in Thebes, with Mut, the great mother goddess as his consort and his son with her the moon god Khonsu, a god of time and wisdom and a companion of Thoth.
