Some believe heaven and hell are in the mind and only empty stillness exists when you die. These people believe that suicide would only be a gate into that empty stillness.
Others believe there is a literal heaven and a literal hell. The greatest number of these people base their beliefs on a belief in God. A large number of these people believe if one commits suicide, their destination will be hell.
Ultimately, you have to search for the answer within yourself, remembering that there is no going back once the act is done and that there is no one who can say there definitely is not a heaven and hell.

∙ 9y agoNo, normally suicide is a complete rejection of God's gift of life, and a rejection of His specific request to take up your cross daily and follow Him. In other words, through suicide, you are rejecting God and forever choosing to be alienated from Him, this is what is commonly known as hell. It is the very opposite of heaven, it is a complete rejection of God and His gifts. It is despair.

∙ 8y agoA semantics question! As a first point a successful suicide meets the basic criteria for potentially having an afterlife, he is dead. Whether there is an afterlife is not known.As for suicide getting you to that spot it would take a review of the meaning of the term. Most feel suicide is a person who purposely kills themselves with no other purpose than to kill themselves. If this covers people engaging in risky behaviour like sky diving or white shark Wrestling is not known. Similarly those refusing medical treatment are potentially in the "killing themselves" position. Firemen police, and military ties often give up their lives to save others knowing that they will not survive - again these meet the criteria of suicide.
