Locating a Methadone Maintenance Clinic

You can find Methadone Maintenance clinics in any state by going to SAHMSA's Facility Locating Service (Please see related link below for location service). Click "Detailed Search" on the left. Enter your information, click "Continue", then Check Methadone Maintenance under "Services Provided", and under "Type of Care" click Outpatient. Click "Continue" once more, and a list of facilities should appear.

Generally, KY legislature has seen to it that their troubled family members have multiple clinics in Lexington and Louisville while ignoring the heavily populated Northern Kentucky economic zone. The result is that Northern KY residents must drive to Lawrenceburg, IN which bills itself as the largest meth treatment center in the entire country. This has lead to police harassment at the Indiana clinic where the posted speed limit is 25MPH and you can get ticketed at 27MPH. Good to know when selecting a place to live if a family member needs meth.

A methadone clinic is not to treat addiction to meth. It is for addiction to oxycontin, pain killers, or heroin. Please do not confuse the need for methadone (which is a dr. Prescribed treatment for the addiction of pain killers) where the rules are strict, you go daily and pay for the dose and you must see drs., Counselors weekly and be subjected to random drug tests on a regular basism that if they fail, they are not phased up and have penalties.

If your family member needs meth, that is methamphetamines and is a different ballgame, sadly. Sadly they are all bad. Some say methadone treatment is a legal drug that you go and pay for daily. After driving my son there daily for 2 yrs. He is finally going down and weaning off thankfully. It is better than being on the illegal drug...But note this....Also true...Some methadone clinics are in no hurry to get you off and will keep you coming and coming for years. I have talked to people that have been going for nine - twelve years. Paying that money every day!! no one is trying to persuade them to start weaning down (and oddly owners arrive in their bmws, mercedes and cadillacs). Go in with a plan, stay on your child, no matter their age, follow up, make sure if you are paying that you are given the right to see drug test results, demand they be weaned down after a time and go to counseling sessions sometimes.

Make sure you go to a clinic that does not tack on a big fee if they fail a drug test. Go to one that just refuses to let them phase up and get take h0me doses if they fail for say, pot. The other clinics charge all those fees and $20 for being a minute late, and others, adds up and costs you so much more. Average fee for methadone dose no matter the amt they are given is $12 or $13 a day...Some much cheaper is subsidized by country or govmt. We pay $13 a day!!! hard. Some give a discount if you pay for the week in advance. Some take cards but some want cash money every day and will not even give you any change even though they are taking in so much cash every day. (They are the ones with the multiple expensive cars too).

Just please do not call it a meth clinic. That is just ridiculous that anyone could get that legally anywhere. It will also keep people that don't know any better (like me at first) from taking their son or daughter there for help). I can't say it enough. I hate it all, but it is a "Method". Good luck.
