there are 3 by hyrule castle in the dead end, on top of death mountain, and near lord jabu jabu as a kid. and 3 in death mountain crater, in desert colossus, and in a rock pillar near ganon's castle as an adult.

Then you go to any of the four temples and and collect them. after you do that there are specific areas that you go to get the items from the great fairies. Woodfall: behind the waterfall or behind the stone were you learn the song Song of Soaring, Snowhead: Behind the temple in a cave YOU CANT MISS IT, Great Bay Coast ???????????, Ikana Castle: there is a hut in the town next to the wall that is Ikana Castle. _______________________________________________ There are stray fairies located in the 4 temples in the game: Woodfall, Snowhead, Great Bay, and Stone Tower. If you have the Great Fairy's Mask (collect the stray in clock town and talk to the great fairy after you return to being a human) go into each temple and put on the mask in each room. If the mask's hair sparkles, then there is at least one fairy in that room (there can be more than one). Search the room until your mask doesn't sparkle anymore, indicating that there are no more fairies in that room. Fairies are normally found in bubbles scattered around, inside enemies, or in treasure chests. You will receive a notice once you have collected all of the fairies in the temple. Once you do so, go to the great fairy fountains in each area (not in the temple). Remember: If you play the song of time and return to dawn of the first day, you lose all of your currently collected fairies.
