Fuel filter is located somewhere between the tank and engine. Follow the fuel lines and you will find it. You do not need a schematic to replace plugs. Remove the old plug (one at a time) and install a new one. Make sure you gap the plug, apply anti-seize to the threads, and torque to factory specs. Use OEM type plugs.
THE 3 SPARK PLUGS ON A 2000 HYUNDIA SONATA ARE LOCATED UNDERNEATH THE BIG PLASTIC PEICE RIGHT ON TOP OF THE ENGINE THAT SAYS WHAT TYPE OF ENGINE YOU HAVE. THE OTHER 3 ARE LOCATED UNDERNEATH THE INTAKE MANAFOLD WICH IS A PAIN TO TAKE OFF AND GET TO THEM. IF YOU TAKE IT TO A AUTO SHOP YOUR GONNA PAY BIG BUCKS TO HAVE THEM REPLACED DUE TO LABOR HOURS. The spark plugs are located on the side of the engine, near the bottom. A four-cylinder engine will have two spark plugs on each side. A six-cylinder engine will have three spark plugs on each side.
Under the dust cover. Remove the 4 bolts that are covering it.
Obviously 3 in front the rear plugs can be accessed only after removing the plastic engine cover and partially or fully removing the intake manifold!
4 cyl - easy remove plastic engine cover and they are right there. The 6cyl is much more complex the upper intake plenum has to come off.
