These new Ford's have electronic ignition coils which eliminates the use of sparkplug wires. You should have 6 sparkplugs and 6 coils. These coils have plugs that go over the sparkplug. Each coil has it's own sensor which is connected to a harness and a screw that need to be removed in order to get to the sparkplug. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 4.6 L and 5.4 L V8 engines have " coil on plug " systems , but not the 4.2 L V6 The ENGINE CYLINDERS are numbered 1 , 2 , 3 from front to rear on the passenger side of the engine and 4 , 5 , 6 from front to rear on the drivers side of the engine The COIL PACK TOWERS are numbered 1 , 2 , 3 from front to rear in the row of 3 nearest the passenger side and 5 , 6 , 4 from front to rear in the row of 3 nearest the drivers side The spark plug firing order is ( 1-4-2-5-3-6 )
