The Hadal zone, also known as the hadopelagic zone or the trench zone, is found from 20,000 feet (about 4 miles) below sea level to the ocean floor. The Challenger Deepregion of the Mariana Trench has the maximum known depth, at 6.831 miles below sea level. This area is located in the western Pacific Ocean, just east of the Mariana Islands.
