In theory you can but in practice, it is nearly impossible. Similarly, it is difficult to use Northern Irish and Scottish notes outside of their countries. Your best bet is to exchange them for bank of England notes in any of the banks along Main Street before you leave.

No, you can't. They are a seperate currency (GIP) although they look almost the same. "Sterling is the currency in Gibraltar, and British notes and coins circulate alongside Gibraltar pounds and pence. Gibraltar notes and coins are not accepted in UK." From the gov.uk website.

Theoretically no. However, Gibraltar pound coins are the same size and shape as British pound coins and shopkeepers very often don't notice the difference.
