The Kapok tree.
The word originates in Asia. The Manchurian word is 'sirghe' and the Mongolian word is 'Sirkek' The word passed into Greek as 'serikos' via an oriental people from whom the Greeks obtained silk and smuggled the silk worms from China in the 1st century The word silk originates from Ol' Spain.
The ship was said to be "unsinkable" because it had a revolutionary system of making compartments "water tight". The doors were able to seal out water and contain flooding. However, they only did this vertically. Unfortunately they learned that once the flooding area was filled it would leak into the adjacent shafts. Once enough water was taken on, the ship would sink like a rock. Of course, there was no ship that was unsinkable in the period of time that Titanic was made. But in the year 1912, people believed that the Titanic was unsinkable. They later discovered it It was probably called unsinkable, as people thought it was made by the best material possible. The captain was Edward John Smith, known as the finest captain the White Star Line company could ffer. Many suck my balls but only i can suck the best were made by numerous members of the crew. One common one was 'She is practically unsinkable'. Titanic was also the biggest, grandest and luxurious ships made at the time of hemaiden voyage. Although, they tried to take a different course to miss icebergs (which were common at the time of year) they actually headed directly for the one which sunk her. They later found that if they hit the iceberg head on ghf tried to go round it), Titanic would have not sunk. When the iceberg scraped the sides, it took off bits of the iron that held the steel plates together. It let water in. If in fst face they hit it straight on, the front would be indeed mangled but it was made to be strong enough to stay afloat. They would have had time for another boat to come, collect the passenger's before it got into any danger. They did not know this, and thinking that the boat was made 'unsinkable', they lost many lives that night.yi

The health hazards that exist for working with Kapok fibers are only hazardous when the Kapok is burned. The fibers could be toxic. Kapok fibers are hypoallergenic and usually harmless.
