It appears that this is a High Standard Flight King (1960-63) or Sport King (1964-73). Blue Book lists the value for this gun with the High Standard name from $100 with 60% original finish up to $156 with 100%. The Sears trade name will deduct about 25% from the value. Answer www.histandard.info …Probably in the late 1950's before High Standard made shotugns with the High Stadanrd name. Answer . The J. C. Higgins name was only put on guns through 1941-1962. It could have serial numbers located next to the trigger on the bottom plate, but a magority don't. In any case though you can take the model numbers (examples 583.10, 101.387) and cross reference to find who made it. Then wh…en you have model numbers and production dates you will have a general idea. I actually found the date of manufacture on my model 50 270win. On the other hand I can only guess on my model 20 because it has no serial #'s. It was made by High standard and somewhere from 1945-1952.. The model 20 will have no serial numbers. After 1957, High Standard made model 20's will have an assembly date code on the barrel in the form of two upper case letters. The Model 20 was made between 1948 and 1962.. http://www.histandard.info/PDF/Sears%20Shotguns.pdf ( Full Answer )

The model 31 was sold with a JC Higgins scope in the early 1950's and an original scope is going to be pretty hard to find. Any scope for a grooved receiver should fit. The value is principally as a shooter as there does not appear to be significant collector interest. The rifle was manufactured b…y High Standard although they did not put that model into the High Standard line. The design is very similar to their Sport King rifle although the Sport King is a pump and the model 31 is semi auto. The gun was available with an internal, retracting sling that is pretty slick and in 22 long rifle or 22 S, L, & LR chamberings. Some parts are available through gunpartscorp.com ( Full Answer )
