RV refrigerators do not use freon but rather ammonia. The ammonia is in a sealed unit called the cooling unit and you cannot add ammonia to this unit. If it goes bad it has to be replaced.
First "Freon" is a brand name. The type of refrigerant an refrigerator takes depends on the make, etc. For example: Older rv fridges usually use ammonia. They can use 22, etc. It all depends. So the answer is multiple types depending on make/, model/, year.
cooling will continue when the refrigerator operates then it has freon ,if cooling stops while operating then it does not have....
It is not recommended that you purchase a normal refrigerator for your RV. The cooling system in both fridges are not the same. RV fridges need gas to power them up. They are also made to keep cool longer when they are not being powered.

freon in a soda machine is the same as a refrigerator most of the time these machines and refrigerator's do not have service valves for the Freon in order to check the Freon you would have to attach a service valve to the high and low side known as the suction and liquid line
