Collectors and Coin Dealers mostly. There were literally hundreds of millions of Australian 1 and 2 cent coins minted, so they would need to be mint uncirculated or Proof to be worth anything more than a few cents.

The last Australian 1 and 2 cent coins were put into general circulation in 1990 and 1989 respectively, are no longer in circulation.

Unless they are part of a "Mint" or "Proof" set or are uncirculated and in absolute mint condition, they are worth 1 or 2 cents.

Although they have been withdrawn from circulation, the Australian 1 and 2 cent coins have not been demonetised and are still considered legal tender in amounts up to 20 cents.

You may have some trouble getting a shop keeper to accept them in payment for goods, and they are perfectly entitled to refuse, banks will accept them and exchange them for coins equivalent to the total face value.

Alternatively, keep them for your grandchildren.

Unless they are in mint condition, do not bother, keep them for your grand children.

Alternatively, your bank may take them off your hands in return for an equivalent amount in current coins.

There are no rare Australian 1 and 2 cent coins. Even in mint condition, the best possible price might be $4 AUD.

If they are in mint condition, you could sell them on eBay or take them to a coin dealer.

Why were the Australian 1 and 2 cent coins withdrawn from circulation?

The Australian 1 and 2 cent coins had become virtually worthless by the late 1980's, and considering their face value, they cost a lot to produce, more so because of the rising price of copper. The last Australian 1 cent coins were put into general circulation in 1990 and the last 2 cent coins were put into general circulation in 1989. They were both progressively withdrawn from circulation in 1994 and all prices rounded off to the nearest 5 cents. The Australian 1 and 2 cent coins have not been de-monetised and are still considered to be legal tender and can be deposited in banks.
