There are many droids in Star Wars. Some of the ones not meant for battle are protocal droids (C-3PO), Astromich droids (R2-D2), Gonk droids, ect. Some meant for battle during the clone wars are battle droids, super battle droids, destroyer droids (also calles droidekas), and General Greivous' body guards. General Grievous is not considered a robot, for he was once an alien, until betrayed by Count Dooku. He was in a star cruiser when it exploded. In order to survive, he needed to wear robotic pieces.
actually general grevious is a cyborg part human part robot because he got injured :)
R2-D2 is from the R2 series model by Industrial Automaton. He is classified as an Astromech Droid. There is also an R1 series, all the way up through R9.
R2D2 stands for 'Reel 2 Dialogue 2'. Written R2D2 on the side of a film reel.

An astromech droid
Countless
There are countless droids. Some of the well known droids are battle droids, astromech droids, protocol droids, and medical droids
Of course. All droids, even the medical droids, need to recharge themselves at a certain point.
The names of the only two droids that appear in all of the star wars movies are R2-D2,(an astromech droid that belongs to Anakin in episodes 1-3 and Luke's in episodes 4-6.)and C-3P0,(a protocol droid that is always in the same place as R2-D2 except some small bits of their life especially episode 1.)Anakin Skywalker technically appeared in all of them as Darth Vader for the last three episodes and as himself in the first three but he changed character and he is not a droid. Sorry if this answer is too long but it is hard to keep the fact under control that I am a star wars geek. And Obi-wan Kenobi.
No. R2-D2 has all different kinds of tools like a saw, a life sign scanner, and rockets. But astromech droids in Star Wars do not have hands.
You needed to have Lego starwars one and get all of the characters for that one and you can transfer it to Lego star wars 2. Then you have to buy all of the one that you can and finish all episodes to unlock all of the characters.
There are countless types of droids. The most famous ones are protocol droids, astromech droids, medical droids, battle droids, probe droids, and assassin droids
R2-D2 and C3-PO
Droids, or clankers. and there are many different kinds, such as astro droids for ship repair, (astro-droid, astro meaning space because their hard hull makes them impervious to the vacuum of space). there are protocal droids, made as almost humanoids for human relations, these are a few basic, but there are billions of droids, ranging from menacing assasin droids to miniscule data droids. it depends on what you need
Not all the droids in Star Wars talk. Some make noises, like R2-D2. Those who can speak are rather limited to protocol droids and others like Trade Federation battle droids; the battle droids have a limited vocabulary even then. Others, like pit droids, make weird noises...
Droids are one line of phones. Android is the software powering the phone. All droids have Android software. But not all Android powered phones are Droids.

The Jawas capture droids on Tatooine, fix all damages, and sell them for more than they are worth.
