Apart from a short episode in Egypt as a refugee, as recorded in Matthew's gospel, Jesus spent all his life in the area we know today as Israel. He was born in Bethlehem, a small town near the capital Jerusalem, moved to the Galilee area (in the north of the country) where he grew up and began his ministry, and then travelled through Samaria (the area between the south and the north of the country) and ended his ministry in the Jerusalem area, including the city itself and a few of the surrounding villages like Bethany and Capernaum.
Jesus traveled to many areas throughout the early years of his ministry.
Some of the places include:
1.) Nazareth
2.) At the Jordan River, near Bethany where he was baptized by John the Baptist.
3.) He goes to the Judean desert and faces the devil's temptation.
4.) He returns to Galilee and attends a wedding in Canaa.
5.) He continues on to Capernaum, on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee with his mother, brothers and disciples, and stays there a short time.
Usually on foot; sometimes on a donkey or boat.
