Very fun. You get to go to other countries (doing your job) and you won't have to pay (the government pays you). Trust me I am a diplomat's daughter and I have went to 6 countries and I'm still 12 and I am now in the other side of the world from where my country is. Even I want to become a diplomat. I mean when you go to other countries, the government will pay for your flight and stuff and you would have a diplomatic passport, which is cool cause in the airport you won't have to wait in that boring, long line anymore, you'll go to a faster line for diplomats and their family...:))

In their own countries diplomats live anywhere just like any other of their fellow citizens. If they are foreign diplomats (ie living in another country), the junior diplomats may rent houses in the host country's community areas (where they live like any other foreigner). However the chief foreign diplomats (the ambassador and his/her staff) will live in the embassy of their country, which by international convention is regarded as 'foreign soil' to the host country.
