Well in many christian denominations, they go to a church to worship. Really though they can worship anywhere just by praying or singing etc. at home on the bus or anywhere!<--Gonna add to that--> Where they GO to worship is churches

In the center or front of the church is an area called the sanctuary, this is where Mass is celebrated and it is considered the holiest part of the church outside of the tabernacle. The congregation typically attend Mass outside of the sanctuary where pews are set up for their use.

Catholic churches can be found absolutely anywhere in the inhabited world where they are not forbidden and are often prominent edifices in main downtown sections. Catholic churches must always have a cross on them and can be readily identified by Marian devotional names or statues if present.
