ANSWER 1
Actually most fairys live in the forests and beaches of Ireland where they are left alone in peace
lots of fairys like to live near ponds with big trees right next to the pond so its nice and relaxing for the fairys
ANSWER 2
Pretty much anywhere, although some faeries (or Sprites, to give their proper name) prefer rural or wild areas where they can spread out a bit, but they can be in big cities too
they've got this thing called the Fekket, though, which basically is a form of magicky stuff that makes them and everything they do invisible to most humans
some little kids can see them, but by the time they've 'grown out' of being able to See, the fekket has gotten to work and all they and their parents/guardians can remember is either nothing about it or stuff about 'imaginary friends'.
