Exhaust camshaft sprocket should have the "EXH" mark at approx. 10 o'clock. Timing chain has 2 silver links and 1 copper link. Copper link aligns with the mark on the Intake cam sprocket, 1 silver link aligns with the mark on the Exhaust cam sprocket, and the other silver link aligns with the mark on the crankshaft sprocket.

If it is a V8 set the motor at top dead center #1 cylinder a the very top and the cam mark should line up with the middle mark on the crank sprocket or o degrees advanced. it doesnt have a belt, it has a chain. there should be one or two lil dots on the chain and like a very small like on the sprocket, make the dots on the chain line up exact with the sprocket and your good There is one mark (dot) on your came sprocket and one mark (dot) on your crank sprocket right about your crank "key" slot. Align those two marks (cam sprocket mark down, crank sprocket mark up). Now turn your crank 2 complete revolutions and verify that those two marks are in the same location that you originally set them. Obviously you will have to have the chain on. I just installed my millionth and one yesterday.

You need to put the number 1 cylinder at top dead center. The Cylinder all the way to the left of the engine as you are looking at it from the front of the car. Take the spark plug out and rotate the engine clockwise. When you feel compression in the number one cylinder by holder a finger in the spark plug hole Then line up the crank sprocket with the mark on the oil pump housing. You will have to take the bottom pulley off the see the mark on the lower cam belt sprocket. The pointer on the crankshaft sprocket will be at the 12 O'clock position. The upper camshaft sprocket is lined up with the mark on the cylinder head. Look at the upper camshaft sprocket. There are 5 holes around it. On one of the holes there is an arrow pointing up. Line this point up with the mark on the cylinder head. The pointer on the camshaft sprocket should be at the 12 o' clock position to line it up with the mark on the cylinder head. Once you get the timing belt on and tensioned rotate the crankshaft sprocket gear 2 complete turns to make sure the timing hasn't jumped while you were setting it up. If after rotating it 2 complete turns the timing marks are still lined up you are good to go. A piece of cake!

If you are refering to the timing chain teeth, you want the lower and smaller crank gear to have its punch mark aligned at 12:00. The Keyway on the crankshaft should be at aprox the 2:00 position when the punch mark is at 12:00. The upper cam sprocket punch mark needs to be aligned at the 6:00 position. Doing this will put both punch marks at the closest point to each other. Use a ruler or a good eye to make sure they are in line. Do this with the chain set aside to get everything in line before you add the chain. Then remove the cam sprocket to add the chain. But be carefull not to move the cam as you reinstall the sprocket and chain.
