Go to a dealership. If you bought the keypad from someone other than the dealership, they'll charge a fee to do it. However, if you buy a keyless entry keypad from the dealership, then they'll do it for free. This is one way I know of that I used.

My information does not list it as having a timing belt but lists it as having a chain. Look in your owner's manual or call your local Mercury dealer to verify this.

Actually I am looking for the same thing. I used to work for Ford around the time these cars where out. The codes were usually on one of trunk hindges. My is not there but I am curious if yours is.
