Some huckleberries are grown in Montana in the north-western part of the state.

Huckleberries are small plants that grow wild throughout the US. They can be cultivated. They taste good. They do not have the shelf life to be sold in stores.

---------------------------------------------------------

Huckleberries are typically grown in and around the Rocky Mountains and Cascade Mountain range at or around the 3,000 ft. level (or higher). Depending on the year, berries ripen in late June until sometime in Sept.

Other varieties of huckleberries grow in the eastern part of the US.

Many roadside stands, farmers markets and commercial pickers sell huckleberries during the season -- but they are not cheap! Since their shelf life is so short, most are sold the day they are picked or frozen and sold.
