Warlocks (and mages and priests) can not learn to use bows/guns/thrown/crossbows as they are a magic wielding class. As such, they use wands in the ranged slot. Wands are not meant to be used as primary weapons, magic users use magic.
First your class must be able to use them. You can drag it and place it on the main hand.
Paladins can use 1 and 2 handed Axes, 1 and 2 handed maces, 1 and 2 handed swords, and polearms. No ranged weapons, daggers, staves, or fist weapons. Also, they cannot dual wield.
Druids in World of Warcraft can never learn to use swords.
All hunters can use guns, bows, crossbows, and thrown weapons. If they don't start out with the ability, then all they need to do is visit the weapons trainers in the capital cities.
