He had sex with his own mother, which made him cut his eyes out, and banished himself from the kingdom.
Oedipus blinds himself and is banished to the mountains to be alone until he dies by the new king, who is his uncle/brother-in-law.
Somewhere in his forties (40s) may be Oedipus' age when he is banished in "Oedipus Rex" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. - 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, Oedipus is old enough to marry and become king when he moves to Thebes. By the time of the action of the play, he has two sons just about ready to succeed him. So Oedipus is probably in his twenties when he gets married and his sons are probably heading towards or in their twenties when Oedipus loses his wife, his sight, his reputation, his job and his home.
what blessing does oedipus have
Creon wants Oedipus back because he want to use Oedipus as a talisman to save the people of Thebes from any curse..... boateng Qwasi

That he must leave Thebes and never return are the provisions of the sentence of exile in "Oedipus Rex" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. - 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, the play ends with Oedipus and the audience remaining ignorant of whether or not the punishment for criminal acts and immoral behavior will be execution or exile. During the play, Oedipus makes the request to be banished to the mountainside outside Thebes. It is only in "Oedipus at Colonus" by the same ancient Greek dramatist that the audience receives the general information that Oedipus wanders outside Thebes for years before dying just outside Athens at Colonus.
I personally think that Oedipus is a better leader because he was willing to exile himself to protect Thebes from the plague. Also, in Oedipus Rex, Creon discusses with Oedipus that he does not want to be king because he didn't want that responsibility; as long as Oedipus was king, he had all the privileges of royalty without having to worry about the politics of it.
Oedipus asks Creon to look after his daughters because he believes that no man will want them with the parentage they have. His sons, he says, can look after themselves.
Oedipus accused "Creon" of trying to take over the throne, and conspiracy against him.
End the pestilence is what the people of Thebes want Oedipus to do for them in "Oedipus Rex" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. - 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, children are born dead or die shortly after birth, crops are failing, and livestock are ailing. Oedipus is the King of Thebes and the victor over the monstrous Sphinx. The people of Thebes seek Oedipus' help in preventing once again the destruction of all life in their city.
Jocasta wants Oedipus to stop the investigation because she realizes the truth that Oedipus is her son and that they are married. She fears the consequences that the investigation might bring, and wants to protect Oedipus from uncovering the painful reality.
That he likes things the way that they are is the reason by Creon does not want Oedipus to be replaced in "Oedipus Rex" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. - 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, Creon shares royal powers with his sister Jocasta and her second husband, King Oedipus, who is actually the main ruler. According to Creon, everything that he needs and desires is provided through Oedipus' leadership. Oedipus deals with the likable and less likable aspects of the job and therefore bears all the stress, and Creon wants nothing to do with any of that.
