Simply wavelength. The wavelength is the length of the ultraviolet or infrared waves from one point (say, the crest) on one wave to the same point on the next. Infrared waves are longer than ultraviolet waves - on average about a thousand times llonger. Both ultraviolet and infrared rays are part of what is called the 'electromagnetic spectrum' - electromagnetic waves that are all the same sort of wave except for their wavelength. These include Gamma rays - the shortest waves, each one shorter than one thousand millionth of a millimetre X rays - around a ten millionth of a millimetre or so Ultraviolet (meaning 'beyond violet) waves - around a hundred thousandth of a millimetre or so Visible light (in order of increasing wavelength: violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, red) - of the order of a thousandth of a millimetre or so Infrared (meaning 'below red') waves - around a hundredth of a millimetre or so Microwaves - from a millimetre or so up to a few centimetres Radio waves - the longest waves , from a few centimetres through to a few metres or even kilometres in length. All travel at the speed of light, but each kind of wave has a different effect because of their wavelength. For example, gamma rays, because of their penetrating short waves will travel even through lead, whereas X rays will travel through the human body, hence their use in medicine. Visible light will only travel through things that are transparent like glass, whereas radio waves cannot penetrate very well at all.

Ultraviolet is at one end of the electromagnetic spectrum. It has the shortest wave length (or lambda) and the highest frequency. It is used mostly in the medical field. Infrared light is at the opposite end of the electromagnetic spectrum. it has the longest lambda and the longest frequency. This is used in the government department. When an object is placed in ultraviolet light you can see the different densities of the object because the waves pass through the object at different speeds. When an object is under infrared light you can see the heat radiating off of the object due to the absorption of the waves. the brighter the color or "redder" the more waves are being absorbed

There are many difference between 3 but most of the differences revolve around the fact that all of 3 have different wavelength & their order is - ultraviolet < visible < infrared . Similarly the order of frequencies & their energy is - Infrared < visible < ultraviolet . Ultraviolet & infrared are invisible to our eyes whereas visible rays [ VIBGYOR ] is only radiation that is visible to us. Ultraviolet rays are both useful & harmful . These are used in various biological experiments & researches . UV - A [one of the type of ultraviolet ) is needed for synthesis if Vit D in our body but its excess is harmful. UV- B & UV- C are harmful because they cause skin cancer, DNA damage, cataracts, etc. Visible rays are needed to see various colours of our surroundings (as some parts of these rays get reflected & absorbed by various objects in different manner . we see only those colours which are reflected by object ) . Infrared rays are mainly concerned with 'Green house effect ' & 'Global warming' I hope that it will work :)

What electromagnetic wave is located between infrared radiation and ultraviolet radiation in the visible spectrum?

The term "electromagnetic" is the wrong term. The correct term is "photoelectric". Aslo the phrase between the infrared and ultraviolet should be stated: between the thresholds of infrared and ultra-violet light. So the correct question would be: What is the region of the photoelectric spectrum that lies between the thresholds of infrared and ultra-violet light? Answer: The visible light spectrum

Why are infrared radiations used in detecting enemy concentration?

Infrared radiatyion is used in detecting enemy concentrations because Infrared radiation is not visible and in the meantime there are devices that can transfer its pictures and views into visible pictures and views. In the meantime, infrared radiation has no passive impact on personnel dealing with contrary to ultraviolet radiation.

What radiations does the sun give out?

The sun emits Ultraviolet, Visible Light and Infrared Radiation, with wavelengths ranging from 100nm to 1mm. Ultraviolet Radiation is split up into three ranges: UVA, UVB and UVC rays. Infrared is also split into three ranges: Infrared-A, Infrared-B and Infrared-C.
