I saw the person looking at me, what was I to do?
I was a tasty turkey sandwich with cheese, lettuce, and tomato too!
I was on the picnic blanket just waiting to be taken
So the person came up and grabbed me, he was attracted by my bacon!
I knew he was going to eat me, down the digestive system I was about to go
And then before I knew it, I was covered in saliva from head to toe (Or slice to slice in my case)
The amylase in the human's mouth changed my bread from starch to sugar,
I winced as I looked down at myself as an ugly bolus; I used to be quite the looker!
Down the esophagus I went, smiling the whole way down,
It was like an amusement park ride, how could somebody frown?
The stomach came next, the pepsin eating at my turkey
I got tumbled around and the acid burned, but still, I tried to stay perky
I was off to the small intestine, gross, I know how it sounds
But there digestive "juices" continued to break me down
Bile attacked my fat, and little villi tickled my bread,
My nutrients were getting absorbed "Stop, that tickles!" I said
Next came the large intestine, I became very hot and dry
All of the water left inside me got absorbed, then I continued right on by
I finally make my way to the rectum all my waste products get secreted
And out the anus I go, I process that cannot be repeated
That's my story as a turkey sandwich, delicious as can be
But just a word of advice, try your best not to end up digested, like me
In your mouth. Your teeth grind the food and enzymes in your saliva begin to break down the food chemically.
your esophagus
(or you can say your mouth )
mouth
Digestion begins in the mouth and ends in the large intestine.
The digestion process begins in the mouth.
Digestion is a biological process that existed long before humans did. Nobody invented it.
Digestion is the PROCESS of breaking food down so that it can be used by a body. In humans, PART of that process involves an acid in your stomach.
Unicellular eukaryotes achieve intracellular digestion through the process of endocytosis, phagocytosis, and use of food vacuoles and lysosomes. A paramecium is an example of an organism that uses intracellular digestion vs. humans which utilize extracellular digestion.
The difference is mainly due to the complexity of carbohydrate digestion. Humans have a single stomach, where ruminants have a multichambered stomach to digest carbs more completely.

Digestion starts when the turtle chews food in small pieces and mixes it with saliva, which has digestive enzymes in it.
The digestion process starts as soon as you put food into your mouth and begin to chew it.
Digestion in humans is the process by which nutrients such as proteins, fats, and carbohydrates in the food consumed are broken down to its respective components.
