∙ 11y agoMission Santa Cruz was founded on 25th September 1791, by Father Fermin Lasuen, and is located in the Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park. It is the 12th Californian Mission.
This area alon Monterey Bay's northern coast got its name long before a mission was built there. Captain Gaspar de Portola gave this area its name Santa Cruz -Spanish for Holy Cross - in 1769.
