Virtual memory, the answer is virtual memory.
You can check the virtual memory of the computer by simply right clicking on My Computer>Properties>Advanced>Performance>Settings
Without virtual memory some computer programs wont be able to run. As the memory increases the computer may slow down its processes.
The virtual memory on an Apple computer varies between machine and user. While virtual memory can be useful, it can also cause your computer to run more slowly. By default, other Apple devices such as the iPhone and iPod, do not use virtual memory.

Virtual memory is hardware that the computer uses to load the operating system and run all of the programs. It is stated that the more memory that the computer has, the faster the programs will run.
open my computer, and then, right click, select properties, choose advance, choose performance and click change, choose virtual memory, and enlarge it
Physical memory (in a computer) is 'better' than virtual memory because it is much faster (and speed is usually the main concern in this subject area). Physical memory (or RAM) is where the programs and variables are stored whilst they are working. Virtual memory is only used when the computer runs out of physical memory. Virtual memory is just one or more files saved on a hard disk. Access to the hard disk is much slower than access to the physical memory.

Virtual memory management assist in the process of multitasking by providing extra memory when a computer has used up all its RAM. Virtual memory is however slower than RAM.
Swapping files from virtual memory back to RAM is known as multitasking. When a computer with an insufficient amount of RAM uses its virtual memory too often, it can cause the computer to enter Safe Mode.
