"Bile" is a complex material:

it consists of 'bile salts' which are chemicals used in digestion (mostly to break down fats),

and dyes which are the breakdown products of hemoglobin,

plus various waste products of the liver cells.

The liver is a non-specialized organ ... meaning that the cells do a little of everything.
