To test the fuel pump on a 2004 RX-8, first ensure the vehicle is in a safe and stationary position. Use a fuel pressure gauge to check the pressure at the fuel rail; it should typically be around 50-60 psi when the ignition is in the "ON" position. If the pressure is low or non-existent, check the fuel pump fuse and relay for any issues. Additionally, listen for a humming sound from the fuel tank when the ignition is turned on, which indicates the pump is functioning.
