The amp light on a 1964 Buick Riviera typically indicates a problem with the electrical charging system. Common causes include a malfunctioning alternator or generator, a dead battery, or a fault in the wiring or connections. If the amp light comes on, it suggests that the vehicle is not generating enough electrical power to meet its demands, which can lead to battery drain and other electrical issues. It's advisable to check the charging system components for any faults or failures.
the amp is in the rear passenger door if you have a Bose system
To wire a Bose amp without a Bose head unit, you'll need to connect the amplifier's power, ground, and remote turn-on wires to your vehicle's power source, typically the battery. Use a line-out converter to connect the speaker outputs from your aftermarket head unit to the Bose amp's inputs, ensuring you maintain proper polarity. Additionally, connect the speaker outputs from the Bose amp to the speakers in your vehicle. Finally, ensure all connections are secure and insulated to prevent shorts.
A 1965 Buick Riviera typically uses a 70-amp hour battery, specifically a Group 24 or Group 27 size. It's important to ensure that the battery has the appropriate dimensions and terminal configuration to fit the vehicle's specifications. Additionally, checking for compatibility with the electrical system is advisable when replacing the battery.
In a 1995 Buick Riviera, the amp fuse is typically located in the fuse box under the dashboard on the driver's side. You may also find additional fuses in the fuse box located in the engine compartment. To identify the specific fuse for the amplifier, refer to the fuse diagram found on the inside of the fuse box cover or in the owner's manual. Always ensure the vehicle is turned off before checking or replacing any fuses.
I own the 1989Cadillac 4dr Sedan Deville with Bose premium sound. Each speaker has its own individual amp that is attached to the speaker. The amps in my car went bad causing only one of my speakers to work. If you are having issues with the amp from my experience it is better to run new speakers, stereo, and wires (but be warned it is no easy task to remove the old door speakers!).
