Facing the engine, all the way in the back below the throttle body but to the right a little.
If the Lincoln had a 302/5.0L then it is preety basic. The EGR is located center rear top of engine. It has two bolts and one exhaust port to unhook.
There is NOT an EGR valve on this engine.
The EGR valve on a 1994 Chevy 1500 is located on the top of the engine. If the valve becomes stopped, the engine could idle rough or stall.
The EGR valve on a 1994 Oldsmobile Bravada is located on top of the engine on the left side. It pulls in a small amount of exhaust gases to be re-circulated through the engine.
The egr valve is located on the top rear of the engine. It bolts on and is easily removed.
It is on the back of the engine under the wiper area

In most cases, I would say yes-- block off the EGR port with a small steel plate. There are some engines that the EGR design is too integrated, however. Try it, but with caution.
The egr valve is located on the back center of the engine. It is right under the intake manifold.
You more than likely have a clogged egr port. Remove the EGR valve and clean the ports going to the engine with carb cleaner.

EGR is on the top of the engine next to the throttle body. If your looking at the engine from the front. It would be to the right of the black valve cover and to the back. That is the egr valve, from 1994 and up the egr solenoid is located under the car above the starter.
