I used to live in NJ. I adopted two wonderful cats from North Bergen Animal Refuge in Ramsey, NJ off of RT 287. I adopted a kitten from Feral to Friendly Felines on route 22 in Phillipsburg, NJ (near Walmart). I bought a Sheltie puppy from Scuffy's Pet Store in Wayne, NJ in the Preakness Shopping Center. I reccommend all of these facilities because my animals were healthy and stable and well-taken-care-of. I also found these numbers for you on the Internet, I'm sorry I can not vouch for any of them. Maybe try calling the Waggin' Tail Kennel in Budd Lake, NJ, maybe they can reccommend a shelter 973-691-0442. I lived down the road from them and they seemed like a decent, respectable place. Hopatcong Animal Haven Tel:(201) 398-1305 Hopatcong Dog Pound Tel:(973) 398-0550 Hopatcong Hoppers Bunny Haven Tel:(973) 770-0284 BARKS (Byram Animal Rescue Kindness) Tel:(973) 300-3185 Vernon Township Animal Shelter Tel:(973) 764-7751 If you are looking for a puppy PUPS Inc in Hopatcong is awesome. I got my dog from them and he is not only the healthiest animal I have ever had, he is also the most well adjusted. What they do is the rescue pregnant females from kill shelters then foster them. The pups are all healthy and you know their entir elife history as they are born in the foster home. The Mom's are adoptable too! You can also look on Petfinder.com for additional shelters.

The best way to find an animal shelter is to look it up either online or in the phone book. To volunteer just go to the shelter you would like to spend time at and talk to the staff members they will guide you in the right direction to becoming a much needed voluneteer.

User Avatar

Your best bet would be to contact the animal shelter, and see if they have records on the dog. Some animal shelters Microchip their animals, which would be another way of identifying the dog, and the shelter it came from.

The best way is to not take it to a homeless shelter. If it is a large animal eg: dog, cat etc then the best place would be to go to a RSPCA shelter and tell them the reason for handing it in eg: there is no room in my house, I cant handle it.....if it is a smaller animal eg: rabbit, guinea pig then pets at home take them in and so do other people so you could put a letter/poster in a pet shop window or in an animal feed shop (the one near me has a notice board full of them) Good luck

There are two ways that should prove very helpful. You can begin by looking in the classified section of the newspaper under apartment rentals, that is closest to the area you are interested in. The best resource for locating this information is online. You can view the classified ads from this area online, and there are many apartment search sources that will allow you to not only find apartments for rent in Hopatcong, New Jersey but many of them provide virtual tours of the apartments listed.

in america. it is the best place to go and if you have lots of money you can buy stuff. the animal shelter is an animal wellfair and its good for animals to go there so that they dont starve to death and they can get water and somewear to sleep.AnswerIt really all depends on Where you are Located in the State... NJ has a number of different shelters and Organizations { there is usually a shelter or organization for every town} all throughout the state... I would suggest going to Petfinder.Org this website will be able to direct you to a shelter in your area.. *Depends if you are leaving an animal or going to one to adopt or wanting to donate. I think there are sites for American shelters and charities that list dubious shelters who use very little of their funds raised for the animals and also, shelters that have the worst record for putting down animals brought to them. Can't remember where I stumbled across them - but very disturbing and very worth looking into...
