Installation Instructions: Step 1: Enter the vehicle through the passenger side door. Step 2: Remove one retaining screw on passenger side of glove compartment to release the mini-shock or cable (Fig. 1) Step 3: Push both sides of the glove compartment toward the center to release the door guides (Fig. 2) Step 4: Remove the used cabin filter by pulling out (Fig. 4) and replace the used cabin air filter with a new cabin air filter ensuring that the filter is placed with air flow mardings in the correct direction (up).
Step 5: Reverse the above procedures to reassemble the vehicle. NOTE: I successfully applied the procedure without a problem. 5-10 minutes.

The cabin air filter is located behind the glove box, you will have to remove the glove box, behind the glove box is a cover about 1" high and 7" long, remove that cover and you will see a tray that holds the cabin air filter, remove the tray and you can replace the paper cabin air filter, I recomend using a Toyota cabin air filter, the Toyota cabin air filter is a HEPA air filter and is available at any Toyota dealer for about $ 30
A 2010 Toyota XLE has a cabin filter. Don't know what year yours is.
