According to the experts at my local Advace Auto Parts _ There is a 3 prong plug located in or near the leftside "Kick Panal" just below the steering whell, you short between the outer two pins with a short wire then count the flashes of the "Check Engine" light, take note of the number of flashes and look in a service manual or try going to your local auto parts store and they will be able to tell you what the codes mean.

i have a 94 Honda passport, my engine is a 3.2L with coil packs. the timing is non adjustable. on the 3.1L the timing indicator is located at the front of the engine by the crankshaft pulley. the timing set is 10-degrees BTDC @ 800rpm. disconnect the set timing connector at the distributor.
