It depends a little on what engine, but generally, there should be several. Sometimes there will be one on each end of each cylinder head. On the engine block, there will be at least two on each end of the block and one in between each cylinder, along each side of the block below the exhaust manifold. Freeze plugs look like small round discs or cups pressed into the engine block and are usually 1" to 2" in diameter.
At minimum, removing the engine mounts is required to access the freeze plugs.
