Where is the expiration date on Classico pasta sauce?

On the glass between the lid and the labels. You have to tip the jar upside down and use a magnifying glass to see it. They should really make this easier to read. After I found it I wrote the date on the lid with permanent black marker so I know what it is at a glance. 3-packs of these at Costco will have the same date on all 3 jars.

Prego sauce has a best use by date printed on the cap. That is the last day they recommend that you use the product. Prego Sauce is good for 2 weeks in the refrigerator once opened. Or if you prefer, it can be frozen in a separate container for up to 6 months.

When on sale, we buy a year's supply and store in our pantry. Once opened we usually finish it within a month without any perceived change in flavour or smell.

Thus we usually disregard manufacturers' guesstimate of expiry date on so many foods and other products too.

Use trial and error and your common sense, rather than blindly following manufacturers' recommendations.

You can eat it, but you're likely to get food poisoning. Expiration dates are put on canned goods for a reason, discard when they expire.

So many intelligent people know better and say, " BALONEY !"

Expiry dates are, at best, a guesstimate for an average user [whatever that is] and at worst, a marketing ploy to increase consumption, sales and PROFITS.

Most manufacturers list an expiration date on their products. If the product has been stored at or below 65 degrees Fahrenheit it should be good for 12 months after the expiration date. However, if it has been stored by 15 degrees above ideal (80 degrees or higher) that can reduce the shelf life by as much as 50 percent (6 months).
