It goes somewhere other than the tank, obviously :)

Supply line runs from the tank, under the car to the engine bay, where it goes into a fuel filter located way below the battery on the firewall. It then routes up to the fuel railing front, then loops back around under the plenum to the rear 3 cylinders, goes through a fuel pressure regulator, then back down under the car and returns to the fuel tank.
