Fuel Tank Removal:
CAUTION: Extreme care must be observed. There is a risk of fire and personal injury. No open flames, no hot objects, no smoking to be allowed. Work in a fully ventilated area. Work only when engine is cold.
1. Disconnect negative battery cable
2. Remove air bag fuses
3. Loosen fuel filler cap (to facilitate draining/venting pressure)
4. Relieve the fuel line pressure from the "pressure connection" (located at passenger side at the end of the back/rear injector rail/line) by loosening it and wrapping a towel to soak up the leak.
5. Raise the vehicle
6. Remove vent tube-restraints at the bottom of the fuel tank
7. Clean/wipe all those connections
8. Fuel needs to be drained through small vent hose located next/under the filler neck hose (Larger dia hose), located at the bottom-rear side of the tank. Do not try to drain the tank through the filler neck as you may damage filler check valve (ball).
9. Loosen fuel filler vent hose clamp
10. Wrap a clean rag around the hose and slowly pull it off from vent tube and immediately drop into spare gasoline container/bottle. Use a hand operated fuel pump device to hook up the hose as necessary and drain the tank
11. After draining the tank, remove the filler hose from the filler pipe and cover it up with clean rag
12. Remove the quick-connect fittings by twisting opposite and pulling away, slide the dust cover back if equipped (These tubings/fittings are coming from the top of the tank)
13. Remove the vapor hose from the front of the tank
14. Remove the exhaust pipe hangers to allow exhaust pipe to drop slightly
15. Remove the heat shield bolts and remove those shields located underneath the tank
16. Support/hold the tank by assistant and then remove four bolts holding the tank by two straps
17. Lower the tank slightly to reach and disconnect fuel sender's electrical connector at the top. also remove retaining clips
18. Remove the vapor hose from the fuel sender
19. Remove the rear vapor hoses
20. Now lower the tank and place in a clean environment. Do not repair tank by welding, it has special coating inside. Manufacturer recommends cleaning by hot water.
Now Fuel Sender assembly can be dismantled as following:
1. Remove the quick connect fittings at the fuel sender assembly itself
2. Remove retaining nut (called "cam")
3. Lift up the Fuel sender from the tank and Remove the "O" ring
4. Do not handle the fuel sender by the fuel tubes as they can get damaged easily
5. Support the pump with one hand and hold the strainer with other hand. Rotate the strainer in one direction and pull off the pump. (remember the position/orientation of the strainer)
6. Detach the fuel pump's electrical connector
7. Place the fuel sender upside down, pull the fuel pump downward to remove the mounting bracket, then tilt the pump outward and remove the fuel pulse dampener. Replace parts as required
how do you access the fuel pump on 1995 monte carlo?
On a 1995 Monte Carlo, the fuel pressure regulator is located on the right side of the engine. The regulator is on the lower right hand side of the cylinder valves.
On a 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo it is along the frame rail on the drivers side
The 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo fuel filter is located inside of the gas tank. You will need to drain the gas tank in order to access the fuel filter.
it is in the fuel tank
The fuel pump comes as a module and is located in the gas tank.jd
It's located in the gas tank.
The fuel filter is located on the drivers side, under the car...right under the back seat, close to the rear tire, it is very hard to change.
The fuel pump is located inside of the gas tank, you must drop the tank to get to it.
Mounted on top and inside the fuel tank.
Fuel Injected? Located in the fuel tank - usually have to remove tank for access
The fuel filter is under the car on the left side just ahead of the fuel tank.
