At 755 feet (230 meters) with spire, Le 1250 Boulevard René-Lévesque (originally known as the IBM-Marathon Tower) is the tallest building in Montreal. Its rooftop height is 653 feet (199 meters)and has 47 floors. 1000 de La Gauchetière has a rooftop height of 673 feet (205 meters) and has 51 floors. Construction completion of both of these buildings was in 1992. In order to preserve the integrity of the skyline, Montreal law forbids any building from reaching an elevation higher than that of Mount Royal, or 764 feet (223 meters) above mean sea level.
