It is a called a Gurudwara where the holly book the Curu Granth Sahib is put and people go to have langar(free food) and bow in front of the holy book. they do social service and donate money in the golak(money bank). there is a special Gurudwara called the golden temple where they have a place full of holly water where you can purify your self by having a bath.
sikhs can worship god anywhere by meditating upon his name but holiest place is harmandir sahib.

Sikhs have no holy land nor there is any holy place or holy time. Sikhism as a religion believes that the remembrance of God makes places and time holy rather than having any particular holy place or land. Hence, the only way to enter is to remember God anytime, any place. As for Sikhs place of worship (Gurudwara), Sikhs leave their shoes outside the room where their Holy Scripture is present.
